marriott hotels near airport

Driving from PA to VA football game at scott stadium end of august. There are no rooms available near the stadium and my son needs to fly out sunday to west coast for work. He's thinking of booking room near Dulles for all of us for saturday night and he would fly out sunday am. Since we have a car would like to go to DC for the day after he leaves. Possibly stay additional night depending on parking and how far to go to sightseeing in DC. We have Marriott points, any suggestions on hotel and advice for traveling to DC w/or without car for the day?
