My husband and I went up to Wilmington for our one-year anniversary last weekend. We stayed at the White House in Wilmington, which was really a lovely inn/B&B. As we made our reservations late, we stayed in the smallest room in the Inn - which was actually NICER in person than online (I feel that rarely happens!). Note though, that the walls are very thin and we could hear the people in the room next door. We peeked into a few other rooms which also looked lovely. The Inn has a restaurant and bar/sitting rooms on the first floor. We liked having the bar in-house, but we do not recommend the food in the restaurant. By far the best meal we had over the weekend was in the resaurant at the Equinox hotel and spa in Manchester. There is also a fantastic independent bookstore in Manchester, which has all kinds of literary events, and when we were there we heard Richard Russo give a wonderful reading from his new novel. We also liked Bennington very much. Overall it was a great weekend and the folliage was just lovely!
