Is Rutland walkable

This town looks very interesting. I am wondering what are the things to do. It has a Rockwell's look. Am I wrong?

I might go there for a couple of days , do I need to rent a car? What are the chances to find a budget place to say.

Or should I skip it all together and go someplace else

I'm not certain what you have read or seen that makes Rutland appealing to you, but my honest assessment, as a lifelong Vermonter, is that there are a lot of more interesting places in our state that merit your consideration instead of Rutland.

Rutland is a gritty, down-on-its-luck town with relatively high unemployment, and significant drug and crime problems.

Where you should go in Vermont depends on what you like to do. If you're looking for the "Rockwell" look, your first choice should be the Bennington/Arlington/Dorset/Manchester vicinity...especially since Norman Rockwell lived in that area for a time.

Swansee, If you think Rutland prices are outrageous you are in for a nasty shock...cos' they are at the cheaper end of the scale for most of the State!
