Australian travelling from Nashville TN to Galveston. Help

I am attending a conference in Nashville Tennessee next April (2013). I need to get to Galveston TX to pick up a cruise ship the day after the conference closes. I am having trouble finding suitable transport. Would be happy to catch a bus or a train if there is one. Any advice appreciated. I will be able to leave Nashville mid afternoon, and need to be In Galveston about 20 hours later.

The sad fact is, if you are relying on ground transportation, then in my opinion you are cutting it to close. Cruise ships don't wait for you and if you miss it, you will have lost your fare.

A car ride straight through nonstop is 13 hours.

I don't see how you could do this trip without flying.

Thank you for your prompt and helpful reply.

So if flying, am I right in assuming I have a choice of 2 airports in Houston, and that is as close as I can get to Galveston before requiring a shuttle or taxi, etc?

Yes, George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the big one and it is way far away to the North from downtown Houston.

Hobby is close to Galveston because it is on the highway that goes to Galveston. I have put a link to Southwest Airlines below because it flies out of Nashville to Hobby.

http://www.fly2houston.com/hou-Airlines (Click on Hobby or Intercontinental at the top and then popup will come up to take you to maps, airline names etc. for those two airports)

http://www.supershuttle.com will take you to Galveston

Hi,

SuperShuttle works well for me, when I travel to Los Angeles; they are reliable and on time.

I made my booking today from Hobby Airport to Galveston Cruise Terminal. Supershuttle were $120 for 2 persons. I ended up with Galveston Limousines at $90 for the two of us.
