Where to stay?

Current projections have Kentucky playing in the Liberty Bowl. If this is the case then I need to find a hotel for Dec 29-Jan 1. Any suggestions?

1. Re: Where to stay?

There is one safe hotel nearby, the Holiday Inn on the U of Memphis campus. Other than that, the closest would be somewhere downtown. There are several hotels downtown that have similar prcies to those out east and in the northeast suburbs BUT they are probably almost all booked for New Year's Eve. If you want to stay downtown, you really need to call about hotels now.

And, thinking of that...the prices for downtown hotels on NYE will be much more expensive than anywhere else in the city. Downtown is packed around NYE. So if you are only in town for the game and not wanting to do anything else, it might be better to stay out east, however it would mean a longer drive to the stadium.

And also, the Holiday Inn that I said is 'nearby' is about 1 or 2 miles from the stadium. Not close enough to walk, and it is not near anything else (restaurants, shopping, etc). It is in basically a residential neighborhood.
