Drumnadrochit, Fort Augustus or Fort William for New Year?

We are planning on going to one of these locations for Hogmanay this year (2013) and wondered which would be best? I know Drumnadrochit had a festival a few years back but not sure if that is still going.

We would like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, a decent restaurant and a half decent pub or two where we can see in the bells. Any help appreciated.

Hello Ruth

There is always a ceilidh night in the Nevis Centre in Fort William which goes on until 1 or 2 and it was supposed to be really good again this year. Its a big venue.

In our village of Spean Bridge which is 10 miles from Fort William heading North towards Fort Augustus we have a great restaurant Russells and there is also the Old Station restaurant which has a buffet meal and live ceilidh music until 1ish. The Old Station also has a bar area if you just want a drink.

They both have reviews on Trip Advisor.

Where ever you end up going have a great time.

Thanks for your response Distant Hills. I think we are going to go for Fort William as the ceilidh sounds good. Also it seems like a good base for doing exploring such as Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Isle of Skye, and Loch Ness.
