I haven't ever heard of tubing companies, but there are places you can tube if you have a tube. North and South Chickamauga creeks are both tubeable and maybe Lookout or Suck. But it's not a common activity, unfortunately. That's actually a great idea.
The price for the high grounds course is significantly less (like, $60 less) than zip line tours I know of in the Smokies, but it does look more like a high ropes course than a series of awesome zip lines. I don't know if you've ever zip lined before, but there's a big difference between the two. You might have to try it out and let us know!
It's cool you're trying to go above and beyond the average tourist experience. Unfortunately, though there's some nice stuff to see in Chattanooga, there's not a whole lot of infrastructure for it for visitors.Edited: 11:20 pm, June 17, 2010
On my way down Lookout today I stopped by Ruby Falls and got out to do some investigations for you. It looks like a standard high ropes course. Definitely not a zip lining thing, though there are a couple short lines. $30 seems like a lot for that, but it might we worth it if you're really interested in a ropes course. It did look like a pretty good one.
Hate to bump an old topic, but I want to make sure you haven't missed my posts. I stopped by the high ropes thing just to report back on this topic. ;)
