How many hotels/motels are in surfside or garden city. The beaches there, are they a little quieter than myrtle beach area? I want to be away from all the hustle and bustle. Can you tell me the names of the hotels? Thanks :) |

Never stayed at any of these before but I have seen them online searching the area. -Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Surfside -Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Murrells Inlet -Plantation Resort Surfside Beach

Never stayed in that area just drove around it. But it has to be a little quieter than the grand strand. Was in MB last week and saw a Comfort Inn on 17 in surfside. It looked pretty new and up to date. It should be about 3-4 blocks from the ocean and there are public areas down by the beach to park.

THANKS :) :) SO NOTED, AND WILL CHECK THESE OUT!!!! Want to go to MB but don't want to stay in the middle of all the crowd. And will be able to eat without going to far.

Surfside is MUCH quieter than Myrtle Beach, but very close if you want to go in for amusements, etc... Surfside offers more condo's than hotels. Dunes Realty and Garden City Realty are the 2 big ones in that area...check out their websites.

THANKS!!!!! But don't most of them require a week stay? We are only there for 2 quick nights. I will have tocheck the site i guess to see. Thanks again.

We have never stayed in Surfside, but have eaten there. There is a Days Inn right on the ocean. Right next door is a pier. Also right there is a great place to eat that is very reasonable. Rivercity Cafe. They are located on the 2nd floor and overlooks the ocean. You can get a burger platter (any burger, fries and slaw) for $5.49. - with a coupon They also have great sandwichs---like the Porker (ham/2 cheeses/and bacon) for $5.00. They give you a big basket of peanuts that you can throw the shells on the floor (or at each other?) There is also a little nicer place to eat right up stairs from Rivercity (We have never eaten there). We like Rivercity because of the view, prices and good food. I also have seen a Holiday Inn on the ocean in Surfside. Surfside is much quieter than the strip. More residences/condo's etc. We just got back from staying outside Surfside, we actually camp right up the street. I hope you have a good time

Thanks again for the reply!!!!!!! My only problem is, it is a 51/2 to 6 hr. drive from where i live and I only have a Friday night and Sat night, which friday is pretty much shot by the time i get there from work. But there again i guess anytime away from home and work is good!! I just hate to ride that far for only one day at the beach! That is why i want it as simple and quiet as i can get but still be on the ocean. I have heard so much about River City Cafe and Nibils i want to try them before summer is over. We have eaten at Bubba's fish shack for a small inexpensive meal. Not much wait time either. That is when i saw i might like to stay in Surfside. Thanks for the tips.

cruzgirl, My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Surfside from July 2-5, 2006. I wrote a review under the Surfside Beach forum if you want to go there and read it. Bottom line is we would stay there again but not at the $209 per night holiday rate we paid in July. The beach is much less crowded and we found it easier to get around from Surfside than from MB. Good luck! Enjoy your two nights wherever you decide to go.

We stayed at the Plantation Resort in Surfside and did not like it at all. I thought some of Myrtle Beach (Grand Strand) was really too busy and really geared for tourists. I was told to go to North Myrtle Beach next time so we are trying for that area next April. Have fun!

we were in Surfside for a week back in June. we had a condo fro mDunes (owned by a friend of my moms though). we ate at Nibils (crabcake sandwich and key lime pie were awesome). had martini's at Latitude22 which is in the same building as RiverCity. we ate at River City in Murrels inlet... it was good, but we weren't too impressed. Southside Grill in Surfside was much better for burgers. it's more of a place that the locals hang out at. it's on business 17 on the north side of Surfside. very small, family owned and operated, pittsburgh theme inside. but the burgers were amazing, as was the homemade cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies. honestly, if you want seclusion and peace and quiet... go to Huntington Beach State Park. i swear i maybe saw 12 people on the beach the entire time we were there... not to mention the great views of birds and the Atalaya castle and alligators (in the marshes AND on the beach).
