Access to pool w/o resort pass?

We are staying at Inlet Cove and to my understanding we will have access to the Inlet Cove pool but not any of the resort pools. Are they're any exceptions or a way of getting a pass to the pool?

Nope, the Resort doesn't sell day passes.

4. Re: Access to pool w/o resort pass?

This was a response, from The Resort, to one of your questions several months ago (see last paragraph)...

This summer, Kiawah Island Golf Resort will complete three new state-of-the-art pools, two in the Night Heron Park and one adjacent to the West Beach Tennis Center. These projects include:

• A large children’s pool at the Night Heron Park, complete with 27 water features including a duel speed slide and a kid’s slide, approximately 190 feet of “zero entry, a total perimeter footage of 457 feet and a total square footage of approximately 8,500 sq.ft. Scheduled to open in June.

• A complete facelift of the existing pool at Night Heron. This will become Night Heron’s adult-friendly 5,233 sq.ft. pool with 304 perimeter footage, three 25 meter lap lanes and approximately 416 sq. ft of 9-foot deep lounging area, the perfect place for quiet adult relaxation, lap swimming and aqua aerobics. The pool will also be used for swim lessons and select children’s Kamp Kiawah activities. Scheduled to open Mid-March.

• The third 4,760 sq.ft. pool (with 317 perimeter footage including approximately 90 feet of “Zero Entry”), The West Beach Tennis and Pool complex, will be built in West Beach adjacent to the West Beach Tennis Complex. The pool will include featuring both an adult section and a large play structure with nine water toys and two additional shallow water features for smaller children. It also includes a circular slide with a 90-foot run - the perfect amenity for guests staying in West Beach. Scheduled to open in June.

As with many of the other resort amenities, access to the pools will be restricted to guests of Kiawah Island Golf Resort and members and accompanied guests of the resort’s Governor’s Club for island property owners.

No pool passes at any price.

Folks pay big bucks to stay at The Resort and their rental properties, thus they have paid for the rights to those pools and other amenities that aren't open to the general public. The pools aren't open to the public so that there is room for all the paying guests w/o being overcrowded. Everyone has the option of either staying at The Resort or renting a property that has access to these amenities.

It's looking right now as if they are shooting to have the new West Beach pool open either for this weekend or by the 4th.

There is no such thing as a "pool pass". The room keys carried by resort guests also function as their amenity access and room charge cards.

Beth and Villa,

If you are a member of the Governor's Club would your rental guests have access to the resort pools? Thanks.

Per the response (above) from the Resort, the rule is...

"As with many of the other resort amenities, access to the pools will be restricted to guests of Kiawah Island Golf Resort and members and accompanied guests of the resort’s Governor’s Club for island property owners."

So, if you are renting your property out and are not accompanying the folks to the pools, no, your rental guests can not use the pools. "Accompanied" is the key word here. Governor's Club members get use of the pools for themselves and their families, not their rental guests.

You really need to contact the Governor's Club, but I believe that's pretty much it.

I really don't understand the problem with the "rules"...if someone wants to use The Resort's amenities, then either stay at the Sanctuary or rent from The Resort, it's pretty simple. This issue seems to be a problem w/folks in resort areas from Myrtle Beach to Hawaii.

It's not fair to those who are willing/able to pay the $$$ to stay at the hotels/resorts with the amenities, that those not wanting to put up the bucks feel they are slighted because they want to pay a few dollars or buy a drink at the pool, to use said amenities...that's not what it's about.

The resorts/hotels aren't expecting to make money off amenities like pools, they are included for the pleasure of their guests. They'll make plenty of money in restaurants, spas, etc. where the public is generally invited.

If someone can't swing a vacation at these pricey places, maybe a one night treat at the end of a stay elsewhere is in order.
