I will be moving to Charleston in November and am finding the prospect of trying to find a place a little daunting. I have spent hours looking online for rental agencies/property management companies, but it's so hard cuz I just don't have a feel for the place or know if any of the agencies have good/bad reputations.
I need to find a little place, just like a small 2-bedroom house with a bit of a yard for me and my elderly but very well-behaved dog. My price range is $500 to $600 per month, and I know for that I can't get anything all that nice, but as long as its safe and quiet I can live with an older place or one that's a little worn around the edges.
Here in Greensboro most folks know which management companies are slumlords and which neighborhoods a single middle-aged woman would probably want to avoid. But when you're brand-new in town, it's scary, y'know?
I'll be heading down there this coming Wednesday the 26th and staying at an economy motel for 5 days while I look. Can anyone give some advice/tips on rental agencies/property management companies to contact? Ones to avoid perhaps? Real estate companies that also work with rental places?
Thanks so much if anyone could help!
