Living in Bluffton

We are going to be visiting the Bluffton area in May to look at real estate. We are interested in moving to the area to have a central location for travel north and south. What is the crime rate? Is it a great community to live in? What are some of the good restarants? Is there any other communities to recommend for us to look at in SC,GA,or NC? We like being on or near the water(river, marsh, intercoastal. We enjoy walking, tennis. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Bluffton is halfway between Hilton Head SC and Savannah, Ga. It was a nice little town at one time, but is rapidly growing as a suburb of Hilton Head. At this time, it's hard to say just what it will become. A lot of people are crazy about it. I guess it would depend on what you need and where you want to live. If you travel a lot by plane, you would have to drive into Savannah to catch major flights from there.

I think, not sure, that unless you buy property on the May River, you would not have access to water except by going to Hilton Head or Savannah.

Savannah is surrounded by rivers and marsh and is on the Intercoastal Waterway. There are numerous marinas in the area.

See my other post about restaurants. As for water access there is Brighton Beach on Alljoy Road. This is not really abeach since it is on the May River, but is a local waterfront gathering place. Also there is a municipal dock next to Bluffton Oyster Factory

Finally there seems to be crime everywhere these days, but our area is blessed with a fairly low crime incidence, compared to most urban areas including nearby Savannah.
