too hot in August to stay at Inn at Palmetto bluffs

We are traveling with our very active eight year old son the first week in August and was wondering if it was usually too hot to do a lot of outdoor activites like tennis, bike riding, hiking etc. Would Kiawah near the ocean be a better choice.

Kiawah may be a better choice for kids, as you have a beach and will be slightly cooler (though not much) thanks to the breezes. Palmetto Bluff though is absolutely beautiful, and thanks to the tree canopy, is not as hot as some other places in the Lowcountry. Typically, you'll want to organize activities like tennis and hiking in the morning, when temperatures are still in the upper 70s or 80s. Afternoons can be very hot, humid, and are often subject to sudden thunderstorms.
