Shuttle to the Ballpark?

I plan to attend a game at the end of the month at PNC ballpark.

In most other cities where I have attended ballgames there are Bars/Restaurants nearby that you can visit (drink or dine), park your car (free parking), and catch a shuttle (minimal charge) to and from the game. It is usually a good time for an out of towner, since there is mostly lots of fun and people to mingle with before and after the game. It sure beats parking in some lot and heading back to the hotel.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something like this in Pittsburg?

Also I see that the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh - Green Tree has a "PITTSBURGH SPORTS PACKAGE INCLUDES TRANSPORTATION" anyone familiar with this deal?

I think most of the downtown hotels will take you to the ballpark via a free shuttle. From there, you can walk to many different bars/restaurants. You can also walk to the River's Casino (about 10 mintue walk) if that interests you.

You can also ride the T from downtown to the north shore for free. Someone else will have to help you here. I don't know where the T stops are, and which hotels/restuarants are by them.

If you want to stay right there, the Springhill, Residence Inn, and Hyatt Place (north shore hotels) are all right across the street. The Renaissance is a bridge walk away.

My variation of this is to park at the Station Square parking lot and ride the Gateway Clipper shuttle over to the game. Neither is free, but it's a good chance to mingle.
