Hiking

Does anyone know of a good hiking trail besides the Drift Creek Bridge trail around Lincoln City? Also, is the Drift Creek often closed due to weather conditions?

I am hoping to do this hike in a few weeks with family...or just wait until the Obsidians schedule another trip here. Cascade Head is supposed to be one of the most beautiful hikes on the entire coast. As I read it, you have a couple of options, one shorter and easier than the other. If you hike the Cascade Head Trail, please report back and tell us what you think.

The big pay-off of the Cascade Head hike are the views from the large grassy meadows on the Head. Besides the two options oregonpoppa mentions, you could pick up a trail near the Riverhouse in Cascade Head Ranch, making it more a long walk than a hike.

As mentioned above, Cascade head is the nicest hike in the area, although from there, you can hike further into Hearts Cove, which is also very nice. There is a hike in roads end at the end of Logan RD up to the "knob" (the large grassy knoll you see driving north towards Roads end) and surrounding woods which is very nice, and off the beaten path as well.

I don't believe drift creek gets closed very often, however the trail can be quite muddy after it rains, which is true for all the above hikes.

Also, there is a nice hike out the spit in Salishan, just to the south of Lincoln City. The trail begins on the north end of the Salishan shops, and follows the bay to the tip of the spit.
