I'm guessing you mean NEXT weekend. Can you give me a little more info? For example, are the college "kids" old enough to drink? Do you have any particular likes (Italian, Thai, Mexican, BBQ, Burgers?) or dislikes? The UofO has lots of places that are popular with the students. And we have lots of great brew pubs with good food. Are you thinking more upscale? Will you have cars to get around or will you be limited to a particular neighborhood?

Looking for breakfast places? There's the Glenwood, Keystone Cafe, Morning Glory and others.

Or you can just check out the restaurants listed to the left in the Eugene Overview column for ideas.

Tell us a bit more and I'm sure we can be more helpful.

I will be with 17 and 18 year olds. I will have a car to get everyone around in. Since I will be paying I was thinking something not to expensive. You had recommended Mazzi's before and we had a great meal and a wonderful time. So I was looking for something similiar in price any type of food except vegetarian or pizza would be great. We love mexican food, bar-b-que,or chinese.

Papa's Soul Food Kitchen on Blair would be a great informal spot...with great BBQ.

McMenamin's North Bank is a great location, right on the river, with lots of good food choices. Very comfortable and although it's part of the brewpub chain, it's much more a restaurant than a pub.

Chinese: Ocean Sky on Chambers near 18th has large portions (even enough for 17 & 18 yr olds). I haven't been there in a few years, but it's still around, which is saying something in this market.

Mexican: Chapala on 29th just west of Willamette is pretty popular (I don't like there other location in Oakway Mall).

Ta Ra Rin on Oak and Tasty Thai (also on 29th, but just west of Willamette) are both good, economical Thai restaurants and there are several more expensive ones.

You might want to skip dessert at the restaurant and take them to Prince Puckler on 19th & Agate for ice cream.

Already several good suggestions, too bad pizza is out or I would add Track Town to the list!

For breakfast goodies or a treat try The Sweet Life (sweetlifedesserts.com). Yummm...

One note of concern for the weekend. You're probably already aware that there will be a football game Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium (UofO vs. Stanford). Unless you're going to the game, I'd recommend you stay on the south side of the river during most of the daytime hours. Traffic can get pretty wild. That means, if you're thinking of going to the North Bank for dinner on Saturday, you should probably walk there and expect a mob scene.

There is an Olive Garden in Eugene, an Italian chain restaurant with prett good food a nice selection of pastas, salads are included with your meal and served family style, really yummy bread here as well and it is reasonably priced and nice for larger groups. Have fun with the kids! :)

Another fun option for your group would be Red Robin's, a nice casual venue with very good hamburgers, salads, pastas and desserts. The French Fries are really good here and you can order as many as you want, there are also several choices for fun drinnks, we love the Rookie Magic's and the Freckeled Lemonade here. :)

Syrahgirl's suggestions (Olive Garden and Red Robin) would be the same for dozens of towns across the country. They're OK chains and reflect nothing of the local scene and culture (of which Eugene has tons). If you're coming to Eugene to experience Eugene (something I doubt Syrahgirl has ever done), I suggest you give the local pubs and restaurants your patronage.

We can't do much about posters who feel the need to express uninformed opinions that don't respond to the OP's concerns...but you should consider the source and give more weight to more knowledgeable locals.

And that's about all the restraint I can muster.
