Wedding reception Bandon, Oregon

Can anyone recommend a good place to have a wedding reception in the Bandon/Coos Bay area? We're looking to have a beach wedding and would like to find an indoor place to rent (nothing too cheesy preferably) for the reception. Ideally, I'd like to find something in Bandon close to the beach but am having a hard time finding something online.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I don't think there are any regular posters who live in that area.

How large of a wedding reception?

There are several hotels in Coos Bay that would probably work, but I'm thinking you want something a bit more special than just a hotel convention room?

This will be next summer sometime?

Have you tried contacting the Chamber of Commerce? Sometimes (not always!) they are really helpful in a small town, since they know everything there.

I was wondering about whether or not the golf course had somewhere that would work. http://bandonbythesea.com/golf/clubhouse.htm

And this is the fancy one north of town, may be *very* pricey!

That was my first thought, half-Brit, but every time I've been to Bandon Dunes, the place has been packed. With golfers! There is one meeting-type room overlooking the first tee where you might be able to seat 75. But, if the reception is during daylight or early evening hours, there will be golfers milling about.

My other thought was one of the buildings in/near the botannical gardens at Shore Acres State Park, outside of Coos Bay. The gardens would actually be a beautiful place to hold the wedding, but I doubt any of the buildings would accommodate more than a small reception.

My first thought was SHore Acres State Park as well.

What about Sough Slough National Estuary's Interpretive Center? Maybe they rent out rooms?

Yes a little more info would help narrow down some of the possibilities. Like budget, amount of people and time of year.

Bandon area you most likely will pay a premium especially at Bandon Dunes. The Inn at Face Rock might be a choice, their website shows rooms that will hold 50.

South Slough sanctuary is quite a ways from any beaches.

Shore Acres is beautiful and would be perfect for a wedding but indoor area is very small. They have a newer outdoor pavilion and they have the house. The house would only be of use downstairs and for at most 30 comfortably. They'll pack in 3 times that at Christmas but their shoulder to shoulder. And if it is in the peak of Summer you will have to contend with a bunch of tourists. I doubt if they would close the park. Nothing on their website about events like that so I would contact them directly to see if it's even possible.

One other suggestion is The Mill Casino. It's not real close to any beaches either but the do have nice banquet rooms. My wife's Christmas dinners are held there and they have good catering. Plus you may be able to get room discounts for out of town family that need a place to stay.

Sunset Bay State Park, adjacent to Shore Acres, also has a an enclosed pavillion/meeting hall. The Beach at Sunset Bay is VERY popular for weddings, which is exactly why the pavillion was built.
