I'm planning a trip for a few days around Oklahoma City. I'm looking for a place to entertain my 3 and 5 year old for an afternoon. On the internet I found two children's musea in the area:

1. Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole

2. Hands On Children's Museum in Tulsa

Does anyone know if they are about the same or is one clearly more/longer fun than the other?

Thanks,

Marcel

I've never been to the one in Tulsa or heard of it, but the JMCM in Seminole is great. The young kids will LOVE it. I believe the gov's wife is on the board of directors. The Omniplex Science Museum is great too. It is in OKC. I remember going since I was 4 or 5 & it is great for all ages. Don't let the "science" part scare you away. It is wonderful.

I live in Tulsa, and have never heard of a children's museum here. I will check it out! Thanks for the info. I have been to the one in Seminole, and will be going agian in August for my son's b-day (he will be 4). It is absolutely fantastic! Seminole is about 2 hours from Tulsa though, and they definitly can't be the same museum.

We visited the Jasmine museum and both kids liked it a lot. We went on a Tuesday and it was not crowded at all. We stayed for almost 5 hours, which is longer than expected. When we turned off the parking lot, the kids were sound a sleep.....

The Jasmine Moran Children's Museum is absolutely worth the trip and the money. EVERYTHING is hands-on from grocery shopping and playing as the cashier to the doctor's office or even a news channel room. Actually the bubble room is my favorite!

But the Tulsa idea is good.

This is in reference to the new Kaleidoscope Children's museum. It it not worth the money. Here is a reply I put on another website asking for opinions of that "museum."

--

I agree with the cost being too high for what receive. It is cheaper to go to the Tulsa Zoo!! Plus the art items and rock wall cost extra. There are not many true learning activities. Some areas have a few posters showing some scientific information, but many are lacking any information as to what a person is suppose to even be able to do at that certain area. When we arrived at mid-afternoon, the place was a mess. Items, costumes, etc were thrown all over the floor. I did see one lady worker pick up a few pretend carrots from the house area, but she only threw them into the garden area which needed to be reorganized. This "museum" is a glorified play area in my opinion. I also agree about the lack of seating areas; if not for elderly people or nursing mothers or allowing a child to sit in order to get shoes ties or just for parents to rest while allowing the children to play on the playground since adults don't fit well in that area. I will spend my money some other place where my children can truly learn while playing or just take them to a park. Afterall, parks are free
