During our vacation to Hocking Hills, we stayed at one of the cabins managed by Lazy Lane. The cabin itself suited our purposes quite well, and the region was gorgeous. However, I feel compelled to post on this forum because of the unprofessional way Lazy Lane cabins handled our stay. The day before our scheduled arrival, there was a strong thunderstorm that resulted in loss of power to the area. We received a call the night before our stay to inform of us of the strong possibility that they would be unable to accommodate us. The following morning, they called to confirm that there was no power and that they were told that power would not be restored for another week. They said that they would not be able to accommodate our reservation, and I explained that we would make alternate plans for our vacation in another area of the Midwest based on our conversation. I confirmed that our commitment to one another was ended. The manager said someone would call us within the next few days to discuss whether our money would be refunded or applied to another visit. Two hours later, when my family and I were nearly to our second-choice destination (thankfully, shortly before we were going to check into our hotel), we received a call from the cabin manager informing us that power was restored to the cabins much earlier than expected. I told her that we had made other hotel reservations because we had just been told that our cabin stay would be impossible. I also said that we were nearly to our new destination. However, she adamantly refused to refund our money or apply it to another visit. She said that since she called before check-in time, we were responsible for our payment. Since we had no choice but to lose money we paid for the two nights' stay, we turned around for home, re-packed necessary items for camping, and headed to Hocking Hills. An hour after we arrived at our cabin, we lost power (and running water) again until the following morning at 8:15 AM, just as we were heading out to explore Hocking Hills. Hocking Hills State Park was gorgeous. However, I would never stay with Lazy Lane cabins again. When I returned the key to the cabin at check-out, the manager wouldn't even let me finish my sentence without interrupting rudely. She stated that she had had a very stressful week because of the storm and didn't see why I had a problem with her policy.
