Looks like thwe nearest rail station is Audley End. Frequent trains from London Liverpool Street Station.
Radwinter is about 5 miles from Audley End station.
The roads between Saffron Walden and Radwinter are 'country lanes' with no 'sidewalks' and traffic that tends to travel quite fast. It is not conducive to walking that 5 mile distance. You would need to hire a car, or take a Taxi from SW to Radwinter. This link might help a bit:
There's a taxi phone at Audley End station, it's a busy commuter station and awkwardly situated 2 miles from Saffron Walden so there are quite a lot of people using SW taxis
You should be OK to just get a train to Audley End and sort a taxi when you're there.
By the way, you might want to ask the taxi driver to take you past Audley End house on the way into Saffron Walden (there are two possible roads to take)
The view across the lake to the house (one of the finest Jacobean houses in England) is spectacular and it doesn't add much distance - a couple of hundred yards maybe
Saffron Walden is lovely, if you want to make a nice refreshment stop at some point - Radwinter's a small village so there's little there. SW is one of the better preserved mediaeval towns in the country
Thanks to all who replied to our query on getting from London to Radwinter. We live in Canada and not very familar with travelling by train in Britain. Can anyone tell us which train station in London the train would leave from?
Also would it be possible to go by coach as well?
Thanks

If you read my reply again you will see your question has already been answered - it's Liverpool Street station in London.
Definitely take the train. Buses are much less flexible in terms of destinations, I suspect you'd have to take one to Stansted (airport) or Cambridge and try and travel on from there
Trains to Audley End travel frequently - 2-4 an hour depending on time of day - day return tickets won't be that expensive, and London Liverpool St station is easy to get to and to find your way around
You need to look for the trains to Cambridge at Liverpool St. Not all of them stop at Audley End so be careful, but the departure boards are easy to negotiate
One final thing, make SURE you take a train to Cambridge from Liverpool St station. Trains also go to Cambridge from London Kings Cross but these travel a different route and don't go through Audley End. Don't let anyone "help" you by telling you to go to Kings X to take a Cambridge train!
The train operator's website is at http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia.com
It's not as complicated as I've made it sound, honest
