Where to stay, eat, drink & be merry near R & R HOF:)

We're planning to come in from Chicago for our 1st trip to Cleveland & the R & R Hall of Fame in a couple of weeks. In addition to seeing the Rolling Stones exhibit (main reason we're visiting), we'd like to hit some good local restaurants & small music venues. Any suggestions on where to stay, eat & enjoy some of what Cleveland has to offer in music?

Thanks!

The House of Blues usually has some good acts. Also, if you like an old-school venue with rough-around-the-edges but friendly staff, bar, food, and horse shoe-shaped booths along the wall, check out Wilbert's. They feature smaller lesser known acts and local groups, but you should find something you like. They list their scheduled acts online. It's a step back in time and just a cool place to visit.

In the following travel article, read about the Rock Hall under attractions, and see the "DINING" and "NIGHTLIFE" sections.

Wilbert's looks exactly the kind of place we're looking for... although they aren't showing any bands playing the weekend of the 21st. I'll keep an eye on it though! We have a House of Blues in Chicago also and tend to avoid it, unless it's someone we're really into.

Thanks!

Also check out the Severance Hall schedule. It's often considered the most beautiful concert hall in the U.S.

PlayhouseSquare also may have events of interest to you.

Finally, the Cleveland Museum of Art performance series offers some of the world's great masters.

Check out the Happy Dog (take a cab if you don't have a car, but it's only a few minutes from downtown): http://www.happydogcleveland.com/music.php (great hot dogs too). Nighttown is another popular spot for music, it's about 20 minutes from downtown: http://www.nighttowncleveland.com/. The Savannah is about 25 minutes west and is in an unassuming strip mall but has great local bands: http://www.thesavannah.com/ and it's an easy drive straight out 90 west.

For music checkout the Beachland Ballroom in the Collinwood area or the Grog Shop located in Cleveland Heights. The Grog Shop is located on the cusp of Little Italy, so it has many nice dining options.

Move to NE Ohio for the resident discount ($19) or try your local AAA office. Here is the web page that details Promotions & Discounts:

Some of the downtown hotels offer packages that include free tickets to the Hall of Fame.
