If your kids are into nature then they'd love the Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre www.daintree-rec.com.au.

I also think they might get a kick out of a Coopers Creek crocodile cruise.

Check out the tourism bureau website for more details on what's there: http://www.daintreecoast.com/.

We have a 6yo and would take him up there next time (we didn't when we went last year). Having said that, he's a child that absolutely loves bushwalking and learning about his surrounds so I'd feel comfortable taking him on the guided walking tours on offer up there.

Hope this helps!

Heritage Lodge is located on Cooper Creek and has some great swimming holes which are safe. it really depends on the interests of your children.

The reef trips are good as they look after children well and with rumrunner the second child goes free.

There is the exotic fruit tasting if they are interested in different fruit. it is possible to hire kayaks at the camping ground by the hour so if the weather is good, it is great to muck around. Jungle Surfing offers a memorable experience if they are into adventure. Cow Bay Horse Rides offers 'saddle club' for kids and is very flexible. The guided walks in the forest are good.

I would recommend doing the walk with Prue from Cooper Creek Wilderness - she is a retired school principal and excellent with children in the rainforest and able to hold their attention. Just around the corner from heritage lodge. and dont forget the icecream company - recommend a daily visit.

Hope this helps - one night may not be enough. visit www.daintreecoast.com for a summary of all the tours and attractions

Would you recommend camping in Cape Trib with children and swimming in the ocean? We plan to be there in early JUne this year and are thinking about staying at Cape Trib Camping.

motheroftwoboys...

Welcome to TA. When you have a question, please post as a NEW thread, rather than on the end of one that is 2 years old....

Yes in June you could swim at the beach in Far North Queensland, and of course we have two world heritage areas side-by-side. The Daintree Rainforest (Wet Tropics) and the Great Barrier Reef. Two fantastic reasons to visit this beautiful area.

Staying in Cape Trib area is also a nice idea because you are in the middle of the rainforest.

Post new thread if you have more questions- you will find there are many people willing to share their knowledge.

cheers.
