CRT Food Questions

We are soooo close to choosing the CRT for my July Bday trip. The only thing holding us back is we don't seem to get be getting a clear idea of our dining options. Can someone help us out here? What restaurants are available for dinner? On CRT website it looks like there is Tapas(soon to be privileged only?), Italian, and Mexican and a buffet. Is that all? I feel like I've read reviews mentioning an Asian restaurant and a steak restaurant. What is the buffet like for dinner? As far as breakfast and lunch goes, is there a restaurant/buffet by the pool/beach for that or would we have to trek all the way towards the lobby? Is that going to be only for privileged guests soon? Menus for Dinner posted anywhere?

Other than that we are sold on this resort. Just a few random questions that don't make or break the deal just curious...

Anyone ever go in July that could share some insight on occupancy, activities they offer for day and night?

Is the place they put on the nightly shows air conditioned?

Any entertainment at night other than shows? Is there any music or live bands at night in open air areas or lobby?

I read a review saying everything is only announced in Italian and Spanish and not English...true?

And my husband wants to know if they still do pool side paella (lol he always asks when scrolling through the TA pics)

Thanks so much for your help!

~ Andrea

There is an Asian and a steak house. The buffet was pretty good when we went two years ago, but we mostly ate at the other restaurants since there is no limit and no need for reservations.

For breakfast we only saw the buffet, but there is a great snack bar with lunch items near the pool/beach area. I can't remember too many specifics since it has been quite some time. With that said, from the beach to the lobby is only about 5 minutes. It's a very small resort.

There was usually lobby music and the theater shows at night, but that's it. Once a week they had a shopping night in the lobby. You should be aware that some of the entertainment was in Italian rather than English. If the entertainment and shows are super important to you, definitely consider that.

The theater for the shows is outdoors, so no air conditioning. There is a roof though.

Jvar has answered most of your concerns i'll just add a few more things.

There is a continental breakfast at the pool bar in the mornings and they have a privilege breakfast breakfast at the steak house in the morning.

Your lunch options are at the steak house where it is a buffet or by the pool bar they have burgers, pizza and other things.

They do have some live entertainment in the lobby some nights. A husband and wife duo and a Marichi band.

The resort has becom very popular and the occupancy level has been high. We went in October and they were at 90% or better for the two weeks we were there.

In the lobby of your building is a notice posted, by the phone, that tells you what is open or closed etc.

English is used in the announcements but you have to pay attention. Just talk with one of the entertainment staff and they can help you.

Some of the stuff that goes on during the day is Yoga in the morning, bingo and aqua gym in the afternoon. Hoese shoes, Darts, Bocci Ball

Some days they have cooking class, making Pico de gayo(sp) .... Towel art...etc.

Take some walks on the beach. To the South there is a nice beach club with live music on the weekends starting around 2pm..You can check them out on line. Look up La Playa Beach Club.

Have Fun

Pool side paella is not done all the time. In 5 visits, all during Jan-Feb, I only saw it once by the pool. A few other times it was available at the lunch buffet.

Go, and have fun, we always do.

As far as breakfast and lunch goes, is there a restaurant/buffet by the pool/beach for that or would we have to trek all the way towards the lobby? Is that going to be only for privileged guests soon? Menus for Dinner posted anywhere?.....dinner..they vary what is open what night...always a buffet tho...yes there is: Tapas (small meal/appetizers if you want a light meal)..., Italian, Mexican, Steak, and Thai ...............LUNCH CHOICES: the burgers/pizza near the beach, and the buffet near the other side of the beach. BREAKFAST CHOICE" buffet. We loved it. I had a made to order omelet every day and gave a little tip to the cook. VERY GOOD! Also enjoyed the bloody mary bar and the Mimoma's offered each a.m.............I never did see a menu posted anywhere nor an activities board posted like most resorts. GRR....and btw..."all the way to the lobby" is a lovely walk and takes less that 5 minutes...it's that small of a property. It's a sacabe (white limestone) and it's beautiful. Leave the heels home tho...it's uneven.

Other than that we are sold on this resort. Just a few random questions that don't make or break the deal just curious...

Nope...haven't been there then but I am certain the "E" team is still busy then. They are great kids.

Is the place they put on the nightly shows air conditioned?...never make it to a show...it's open air tho. We enjoyed the lobby entertainment and then hit the hay.

Any entertainment at night other than shows? Is there any music or live bands at night in open air areas or lobby?...yes....band that rotate in the lobby prior to the show starting at night.

I read a review saying everything is only announced in Italian and Spanish and not English...true?...untrue

And my husband wants to know if they still do pool side paella (lol he always asks when scrolling through the TA pics) ...not when I was there ...however it was only a 5 night stay when I was there.

Thanks so much for your help!

~ Andrea..........have fun........enjoy....THE BEACH IS STUNNING...worth going for alone. Cheers. Mary

We were at CRT this past July for 10 nights. The occupancy level was high -- close to 100% for the whole time with a couple of "turnover days" where the Vera Club horde left and the next busload didn't arrive until late at night. :-) The weather was beautiful, but scorching hot. Normal July weather for the area.
