Supposed to leave for this resort on August 12th from Toronto. I received an email today from my travel agent advising us that the hotel's opening has been delayed until the fall, we got bumped to another hotel.

Were booked for Aug 29th theres 10 of us going. I wonder if we'll get booked at a different place? What place are they sending you to?

Just got an email from Grand Sirenis and they said that July 27 is still a go to open that day. It was an email fron Eduardo in sales and marketing.

returned from catalonia riviera, july 18 06. passed by the entrance to sirenis on way to xel ha. planning trip to sirenis in january. the entrance colums and immediate area look not much different than photos on akumal realty link. you can see down lane somewhat not much concrete poured yet and very little landscaping. granted these are more cosmetic issues but i would question early august opening.

It's like this, if I owned a travel agency and I booked customers for a package through a resort that may or may not provide anything less then what the resort is promising, then as a business I would bump my customers into another hotel until I was sure the resort was up and running as it should be. Travel agencies don't want to risk a bad review or there customers not returning. There has been so much talk about if the Grand Sirenis will be open by July 27 or not until later that why would a travel agency take the risk? Anyone who reads the messages here at this site or others like it kind of know what to expect but what about all the people that don't go to these sites. Who do you think the customers will hold responsible? Chances are it won't be the resort it will be the travel agency for not making sure that resort was ready to begin with.

I am a travel agent and I am going on July 29. I booked with Applevacation and now they are not changing my reserv. unless hotel will change their opening date.To make the matter worse, I can only rebook myselve for the more expensive resort, othervise all penalties will be apply. It may be different, if I had a clients for this dates, but travel agent usually wery last crumble in the pie.And most of my information comes from travel forums.So, guys, don't be to hard on travel agents. We are working very hard for You . RESPEKT.
