????? Not sure how you get the impression that the place is to be avoided?! There have been many..........1300 posts in fact, on this subject, some positive some negative, but at no time have I seen anything that makes me want to avoid the resort...............just my two cents...............

Anyone who got the impression that this resort should be avoided really has the wrong impression. If you read the reviews both on the Mayan Beach and Riviera since Feb. you'll see that they are now overwhelmingly positive. Rightfully so as it is a beautiful place.

Right now they are offering this resort at a great price. I would highly recommend that people take advantage of this now as the Sirenis is an amazing resort and the prices will surely rise.

I will re-iterate that I was also nervous after reading the negative reviews from Oct through Jan but we were blown away when we got there. I mentioned to my wife many times in the first few days that whoever was disappointed with this resort was crazy.

As far as snorkeling, we took our own vests as the walk to the beach hut could be kind of far depending on where you were sitting on the beach. There is no pier, but the good snorkeling is not far from shore. (Go past the ropes and you'll find the reef)

Go, enjoy and ignore the bad that you've read. If you can't be pleased here I really do not think you'd be pleased anywhere.

Hello Ski2112

We are heading to the grand sirenis, this saturday for two weeks. You mentioned you did the zip line tour, how much does it cost? and how far from the resort is it? Is it really scary? I'd like to try it but not sure I'm brave enough? Also did you go to Chichen itza?

I Hope you see this post before we go.

Thanks

Hi Toela,

The zip line tour that we took was called Selvatica. It was about a 45minute drive from the resort and costs us about $75 pp and that included the ride. You can book direct with your own transportation for about $45 but it is in the jungle so unless you have a car it is not practical. There are other tours that are closer to the resort but this one offered 12 lines so we thought we got the best bang for the buck.

Scary? Not at all, just a lot of fun!. My wife is very much afraid of heights and she thought it was a blast. She called it the highlight of our trip. The staff is well trained and at no time are you in any danger. Great fun!

We did not go to Chichen itza as I've done the ruins in the past and it is quite a drive from the resort. Others that we met did go and said it was amazing.

Have a great time!

quick review

we were there from 4/1 to 4/7.

very satisfied. overall I give it 8/10.

Low points for the beach and being far away from everything

High points for clean, outstanding service, staff, and facility.
