As I wrote in my review, this post along with many others, helped us prepare for our trip. Back in November I took the time to read the entire 80 + pages and followed it all the way to our trip (Mid Feb) I looked at all of the pictures and there are a lot of them. I will say that pictures do not do this resort justice. We and all of the people we met, found the Sirenis to be very beautiful.

If you are even a little nervous. Take the time to read this post. Ask questions. I found this information to be invaluable and most of the complaints seem to be coming from people who walked in blind so to speak. We knew what to expect and had the best vacation of our lives!

Can anyone tell me how the beach is at the Sirenis, as compared to the Barcelo Maya Beach?

I've noticed something in the last couple of reviews...

Two reviews mention the lobster gala as an ala carte. Does anyone who has been there just very recently heard that the lobster gala is now an alacarte?? At first I thought one person was just confused, then the next review said something along the same lines...that would be sneaky on GS's part I'm thinking. Mind you if the lobster gala takes place where the buffet is, are they offering other choices that night or is the lobster now one of your four ala carte choices???

hmmm???

thanks in advance for any info

jp

I believe it was starting this Friday that you had to have reservations for the lobster gala. We were told it was last Friday, but as we were not told of this rule change, we couldn't get reservations until the 8 o'clock seating, and as that was too late with two small tired kids, we chose to go to the steakhouse instead that evening for a 6:30 seating. On the lobster gala nights, the steakhouse and the new cajun restaurant, the bayou, have lobster at their salad bars. In the two weeks we were there, we ate at all the restaurants, except the french gourmet. Absolute favorite was the Japanese and Bayou, for food and service. I knew of one group of friends that ate at the Bayou their first night there, and then booked the remainder of their two week holiday eating at the Bayou for all a la carte nights. The coconut shrimp, the blackened ribeye, and the flambed strawberries over vanilla ice cream was my favorite. They also make delicious martinis!! We didn't care for the meditteranean or the mexican a la cartes, while the service was terrific, nobody really enjoyed their meals at our table of six. I'm going to stop writing now because I forgot what the comment was that I was replying to!!LOL Will write more later..............

WOW!! I was kindof bummed out having to use the lobster night as an ala carte choice, now I'm just excited to eat at the bayou and get the flambed stawberries!!!

The lobster Gala is its own thing Friday night, and is separate from the ala cart dinners

It appears that since about last week they are now making it an ala carte choice. From what I'm gathering you now have to use it as one of your four choices...hmmm...Steakhouse, Bayou, Japanese...now I have to decide, lobster gala, mexican or med...???

a fellow kelownian going to GSMB in april!!

JP,

Keep in mind that the ala carte restaurants will put lobster out at the buffets on Friday night. If the Gala is indeed considered one of your 4 choices then my advice would be to skip it and book at a restaurant. You will still get lobster and won't have to lose one of your four reservations.
