Gran bahi principe Coba

My husband and I and another couple are looking at couple different resorts the Coba being one of them. I noticed it is a fairly big resort - my concern is the distance from rooms to beach.

Are the rooms/buildings staggered throughout the resort?

Any feedback good or bad would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for your quick response Vancouversun. I don't mind the walk per se

but if you forget something and have to keep walking back and forth. I know, don't forget anything - but I do have an issue with my lower back/leg so a room somewhat closer helps.

Another question - how about markets or town to hang out through the day -

says Playa del Carmen about 8 km? We have stayed at other resorts closer to town before - half hour walk on beach or 10 min taxi.

Brantford person - hello - we are planning our trip for Mar 2 - 9.

they have a hacienda on the resort near hwy for souvenier shopping and it also houses the disco. As for Playa Del Carmen it's about 20-25 min collectivo ride and cost 30 pesos each way..recommend blg 27-31 for easy room access..keep in mind they are building a water park beside bld 31A right now and it also overlooks the activity pool which can be noisy during the day..easy access to the Buffet ,Coba lobby and the turn around for beach cart p/u..Might also wantto check out this Facebook site for more info..Have a great trip https://www.facebook.com/groups/273760526008222/files/#!/groups/2255432045/

Yep, Playa is about 30+ km

Akumal is a few km away - neat little town

Akumal is 1 HR away by walking the beach or 10 minutes by taxi / colectivo

Tulum is made up of the pueblo ( 10 minutes to the south by taxi / colectivo) lots of great restaurants / then 10-15 down the beach road are a great collection (5 miles) of beach clubs

Bahia is the 2nd last AI on the whole RM coast - last one is just slightly south (called Dreams Tulum)

The beach is a LONG distance from Coba. The shuttle would be required to get back & forth.

10. Re: Gran bahi principe Coba

We stayed at Blue Bay for a week when it first opened up.

We would not return for the following reasons.

Beach area so so water is merkey brown in color for about the first 35 feet out

lobby is very small not much to do

A la carte resturants more like cafaterias food prepaired

Beach buffet turns into steak house at night

Just not our type of resort. ( we are senior travelers, younger people would love it.)

Staff is excellent, room cleaning excellent, they really go out of their way to please you.
