I have been looking for such a long time for just the right place to take my aging parents and my siblings for our Vacation of a lifetime. We have planned this for several years. I fell in love with the photos and the concept of the GORM, but at the last minute I decided to read the reviews and I was shocked to see that there were so many terrible reviews. The place looks so fabulous and clean. Could anyone please advise from personal experience?

I prefer upscale all inclusive resorts, and this one looks great but how much of it is decieving? Has there been damage from the hurricane? Are the rooms really torn up? Is there a shortage on labor? I am in such a state of confusion. I need to book and leave in 4 weeks. Please advise.

Hi perfectdaughter, read my review, I wouldnt go back, I dont know what your budget is but definately look at the Iberostar, Lindo, very nice 5 star resort, if you end up in the wrong room in the GORM it will be so disappointing for you!!

Perfectdaughter please don't take your aging parents to this resort ,there are too many stairs. I personally witnessed several older people tumble down the stairs.the stairs are confusing and hard to see.

The service is also not very good. Food becomes very bland after 3 days, the same thing over and over. The rooms are crappy, two double beds pushed together.

Do yourself a favour and go to Bahia Principe, Barcelo Maya or best yet with your aging parents go to the Moon Palace, a short ride from airport, excellent service, extra excursions, Chitzen Itza ,Isle Murjeres all free. Hot tub and ocean view in almost every room.

I just returned from one week at the GORM, the wife and I are not that hard to please, but believe me, this place is not very good you will be much happier at one of the above named resorts.

Thanks so much for the input. That really put a perspective on things. I will look at the suggested hotels.

Why not try the Bahia resorts, it is just down the beach from GORM and I mean just down the beach, while it is a huge resort, I can definitely guarantee with aging parents, you will get a great location with respect to location. Let me know what you are thinking, I have a few contacts there, we are leaving for our third time in 29 days. I can guarantee you will love this resort, unless, of course, you prefer something smaller. Don't go to Playa del Carmen, beach is crazy...let me know, I will try and help you.

The Iberostar Lindo is upscale and stunning but not sure if it is a good fit for your parents. i.e. no elevators, large property with lots of walking and a ton of kids.
