Hi Macbunny. I just returned from the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya Friday night, and I urge you to change your travel plans! If you are 22, this is not the place for you. We are 33 and 34, and were with a couple that was 23 & 24. Only 1 bar stays open at night and closes at 1am (bottles pulled at 12:30). This is a place for quiet, reserved, older couples - not a place for young people and nightlife.

Also, the rooms were smelly, as described in other reviews, and we spoke to people who had to change 3 and 4 times. Even though my closet had an inch of standing water, the sewer smell wasn't as bad as long as the air conditioner was running, so we stayed put because we were told that changing rooms made no difference.

Please see if you can change the resort. Even if you are not looking for the Cancun party scene, it's doubtful that you are looking for a place as limited and quiet as this!

I just put a call into my agent. Maybe this is all premature and there is nothing to worry about but I have read the reviews lately and they have been awful! This is my hard earned money. Its just not worth the risk so thank you for your opinion!

HI Just booked this hotel. Did you end up going there and is it that bad??????? If you did go what room type did you stay in.
