Vacationing in Surf City Need Insigt

We (5 adults, 2 childen) will be vacationing in Surf City over the Memorial Day holiday this year. We're from MN and have no idea what to expect. We would truly appreciate recommendations on the following:

1. Restaurants

2. Places to get fresh seafood

3. Places to buy groceries/supplies

4. Must see places/sites

Any other good ideas or thoughts for our trip would be helpful.

Thank you!

There is a Food Lion just off the island near the swing bridge, a Family Dollar, and Dollar General in the same area. A small Mom and pop IGA in Surf City. A Food Lion in Sneads Ferry, where you can also go down to the river to pick up fresh caught seafood. There is a Harris Teeter out on the highway. We like Maxs Pizza, Sears Landing, Christophers, and Island Delights when we eat out.

As far as attractions to see, a drive to Willmington would be a short trip and has many attractions. The Aquarium at Fort Fisher is nice, and kids love it. On the island there is a sea turle rescue hospital, that you can visit. The hours are quite limited though. At Topsail, the main attraction is the wondrful quiet beach.

We're still working our way through the restaurants on Topsail Beach/Surf City, but haven't run into a bad one yet. Our favorites are Beach Shop and Grill in Topsail Beach toward the southern end of the island. Sears Landing just over the swing bridge on the mainland of Surf City is also great. Daddy Macs is a place where you can sit outside and overlook the beach and ocean. All of these have great seafood.

New York Deli is a nice break too. It has great sandwiches, etc.

Things to see?

On the island:

Missiles and More Museum in Topsail Beach

Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital - scheduled to move into their new facility on the mainland of Surf City.

In Wilmington include a tour of the USS North Carolina, the first class of fast battleships in WWII.
