We visited Zhangjiajie last month and stayed at Qinghe Jinjiang Hotel in Wulingyuan. This hotel is a four to five star hotel, very opulent. The restaurant left a lot to be desired and we are curious about the avoidance to use refrigeration in this area. My husband ordered a beer and it arrived at our table warm. He was offered ice (for beer?) and eventually an ice bucket was brought to cool the bottle! I took myself over to the fridge to attempt to find something to drink to find it was not turned on.
On our final day we had lunch in the town. We walked down the street looking for an ATM and stopped by a shop to buy drinks. The day was very warm, the drinks were in the fridge together with the shop assistant's handbag. No the handbag was not cold!
Is there are shortage of electricity in this area or is this cost-saving?
