Thinking of Moving from California to Huntersville, North...

My wife and I are thinking of possibly leaving Southern California to move to the Huntersville/Charlotte area. I am in the Financial industry and I do not think it would be difficult to find a job in Charlotte. We have been looking at homes and have found everything we could ever want. We could also build our dream home for the same price! Our biggest problem is leaving our families. We don't know much about the Charlotte area but everything that I have seen on the internet makes it seem like a very desirable place to live and work. The Lake Norman area looks beautiful.

Can anyone help us with this? Is the Huntersville/Lake Norman area a nice place to live? What is so great about it? What are the schools like?

Thanks!!!

yes it is lovely. I was out in your area in June driving around San Bernadino, Pasadena, and Simi Valley - prepare for traffic on I-77 around Huntersville and into Charlotte that looks a lot like that out there!

The schools vary - if you live in Mecklenburg County the schools in that area are lacking. If you go across the river into Iredell, somewhat better. Best wishes.

To travelingcouple- We are from NY and looking to relocate in NC as well, possibly in the Lake Norman or Union County areas. We love it in NC. My husband in the financial field as well and after sending out 1200 resumes, has yet to be offered a job anywhere remotely near what he is making here. So finding a job in Charlotte has not been that easy. I don't know about the salaries in CA but we are disappointed with the lack of even a considerable offer. He has 18 years experience and is being offered straight commission jobs or half his NY salaryAnd so far only very few offers even! Just and FYI for you!
