Stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Cherokee last fall. Rooms were clean. Right across the street from the casino.

I have stayed at the Econo lodge and it was clean. Also we have stayed at the Pageant Inn. It is an old place but it was clean and cheap. Check out thewebsite www.visitcherokeenc.com They have a listing of hotels and cabins. I have in the past been able to get a cabin for the same price or less than a motel

The Casino rooms are usually the cheapest if you are planning on spending money there. They offer packages and discounts.

Newfound Lodge has good prices and overlooks the river. These rooms are clean and kept up.

Cool Waters is a bit dumpy now-a-days but have cheap prices.

The Pageant Inn is probably the cheapest, but are out of date.

The chain hotels are the highest priced and not at all worth it.

I've never paid for a room in Cherokee and the most I gamble is $100. Stay at the casino especially if you're there during a week night.
