There are plenty of waterfalls in Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard and off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Pisgah National Forests.

Of off Highlands Road out of Franklin heading towards Highlands there is Dry Falls and Bridal Vail Falls, both seen from the road and Bridal Vail you drive right to it.

In Brevard, well outside Brevard on US 276 heading toward Waynesville you will find Looking Glass Falls.

Off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Graveyard Fields area you can see Lower Yellowstone falls from the road.

There is another water fall-cascade off the Blue Ridge Parkway heading south between Balsam and Socco Gap where you see a large cascade. the name escapes me, but we saw it this past Saturday.

We have waterfall guide to Western NC. It is not here with me, but it has a few more.

Enjoy the mountains....

How far can she walk comfortably? At Deep Creek there's a short, clean trail to three waterfalls, just to add another idea on to the ones above. All three are really nice and worth the walking (at least for me) for each alone. If you go to all three you'll do about two miles, but if you only walk to Tom Branch (very nice, benches in front of the falls) It would only be a half mile round trip or so.

Mingo Falls has a fairly short trail...it has some elevation gain, but not that much and it's a superb waterfall. It is in Cherokee, but not in the National Park...just outside of it. If you google, it you'll find the info and directions. I was there two days ago and was impressed.

and remember with waterfalls, they are going to be more impressive after it rains for a few days (of course). I always try to time my waterfall hikes for a sunny day after two or three days of heavy rain...it does make a difference.
