Nice Downtown Hotel for a group of teens

Our Youth Group is taking a group of six girls to Charlotte for a conference in May, which will be at the Ovens Auditorium. Can anyone tell me a nice hotel nearby, that has good amenities? Thank you!

I can't help, but the experts probably would want to know how many rooms you'll need and how many persons will be in each room. What is your budget per room?

What kind of amenities do you want...a pool, onsite restaurant, fitness center, bar for the adults, or something else?

There won't be anything suitable nearby. The nearest hotels will be a few miles away. You will either need to stay right downtown or down Independence Blvd toward Matthews. The drawback of staying downtown is traffic and having to pay for parking. If you choose a hotel around Matthews, you will also have some traffic during rush hour, but you can easily hit 485 to get to some good shopping ( such as Carolina Place Mall.....Concord Mills). Best wishes.

I suppose you want to be downtown for Discovery place, museums, etc., as Ovens is not really downtown. In fact, the area is not the best, so previous recommendation of staying near or close to Mathews might be an option. Sleep Inn, Comfort Inn - Windsor Square, Holiday Inn Express - each would have some advantages... Check the reviews. If you trully want to stay downtown, then call each hotel's Sales Manager & ask for special group rate. Holiday Inn Centre City, Omni & especially Blake should give you good rates. Some do not like large groups, but try them all. Also, hopefully you'll be coming outside the main May events (City Fest, Gay Pride, Race W/ends).. Then no discounts...including Mathews for Race w/ends...

The closest hotel near Ovens = yet still downtown (near Nascasr Hall of Fame) www.hgicharlotteuptown.com/specials.php

I would pick that one, especially if you can negotiate a good rate. They are used to groups visiting Nascasr Hall of Fame...

Teen age girls would love the South Park Mall. It isn't far (20 minute drive) to Ovens. Any of the hotels in the SouthPark area would be perfectly fine. Lots of restaurants near there too. That would be my first choice. Ovens is in a part of town that you don't want to spend any time in.

If you really want downtown (and there's lots to see and do Epicenter, museums, etc.) check out either the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hampton uptown.
