Also - it is quite a ways from the Speedway!

I work in that area and can't say I would stay there on pleasure if I had a choice. That hotel is further up Arrowood next to a residential area that isn't the best. There are a lot of business travelers during the week, but I also know there are a good bit of car break-in's (just saw the cops using a decoy car last week). It is very close to the interstate though. Personally there aren't a ton of places I would stay from about 5 miles out from Arrowood in any direction. The closest to where you just talked about that I would consider would be off S. Other than that, you either need to go further east and hit Ballantyne or South Park or go a bit further north out of the city (or you can stay in Uptown, but might cost you more). The hotels near the airport area aren't the best either. Is just a tricky spot.

Too far and not nice area. If you prefer Towneplace Suites stay at one in University area. Nice hotel and much closer. I recommend Uptown hotels for so much more to do, bars, restaurants, coffee, music, dancing. Check out the Epicenter and MEZ movie theater, Wild Wing Cafem etc.

We have changed our choices to:

Double Tree Charlotte / South Park

Residence Inn / South Park

Residence Inn Charlotte / University Research Park

Any opinions on these?

Oops -just remembered you are going to race..that would be closer... but watch the surrounding areas.

We don't mind travelling a ways to the track, so our main goal now is to be somewhere near restaurants, bars, etc. that is safe.
