Last summer we stayed in a hotel uptown and the construction made it difficult to get around several areas. Is the construction level uptown about the same, or any closer to completion? Any hotels to avoid that are in the middle of the construction area?
There is still a good amount of construction going on, but it is mostly limited to a couple block of South Tryon Street and North College Street. For the most part, major streets through uptown are open. The hotel nearest a lot of construction would be the Holiday Inn, but still it should be any harder to get to.
We are building a lot of condos and offices in uptown. Major thorofares are open though. CHose a hotel with free shuttle and dont worry about parking and driving. Everything uptown is within a 5 minute ride. Trade and Tryon have a free shuttle called the Red Line that operates like every 15 minutes. Pterry safe area to walk if you stay on Trade Tryon College Church and Mint STreets between 1st and 9th streets.
