 Weekend Getaway

Been in NC for 5 years and always wanted to visit Charlotte; only drove through several times. Me and wife are planning to visit next weekend. We already have hotel reservations and looking for something fun, some place romantic and maybe an upscale old school club; haven't danced in a while. May also want some good fish and ribs. Any suggestions. Not everyone speak @ once...LOL! Thanks for any suggestions.

We have stayed at the Marriott and loved it. The places we like to go when uptown is Cosmos (fun, upscale atmosphere w/ a tapas menu and regular menu that's very good!) they have a website...for casual fare we like Fox and Hound (sports bar w/ 3 levels), Rock Bottoms (micro brewery w/ great food), Ri Ra's (irish pub w/ cool rooftop deck), and I'm sure there are more. For dancing my friends and I will go to the Forum...haven't been in a while and they have college night Friday night so I would go Saturday. They have a rooftop patio/bar area too that's good for people watching. There is also the epicenter which has Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano bar that's a lot of fun, and other restaurants as well...have fun! =)

I think you have some good suggestions for the evening. For the day-time here are some recommendations:

1.Mint Museum of Art- they have some great permanent and travelling exibits

If you're into the outdoors:

1. Hike Kings and/or Crowder's mountain- both have fantastic views at the summit

2. US National Whitewater center- you can raft their class IV man-made rapids, rent a mountain bike and go on their trails (some single track and technical trails too) or use their 45' rock climbing walls. My husband and I took a whitewater kayaking course- and had a lot of fun

Of course, there's also Carowinds and the Concord Mills outlet for shopping.
