We got the advice to try Carolina Beach and it sounded great, especially when I called the Courtyard Marriott. The lady I spoke w/ said there were tons of restaurants to walk to for breakfast and dinner and that the Marriott has an omelette breakfast for $9.95 per person. She also said that Wilmington was close to the area (over bridge)/20 mins. She said that "Squigleys" was across the street and they sell ice cream cones at night.
It sounded like a fun place to be.
I was excited until I started reading horrible reviews on the Courtyard Marriott AND the surrounding areas of Carolina Beach.
I also saw a bad photo of Beach Avenue, looks like someone riding a bicycle w/ abandoned buildings and wires hanging over the street.
We are very worried that we will not like Carolina Beach.
Now we are not sure if we should look somewhere else. Wrightsville (Sunspree hotel is out of our price range). They want $350 a nite.
Anyway, we basically want to be on the beach at a nice, clean hotel and near a lot of antique malls.
Prefer to be in walking distance to restaurants for breakfast and dinner.
If anyone can put in their 2 cents, I'd appreciate it. :) Thank you!
