Skiing in March

We are looking to ski for four days mid March and are considering either staying in Blowing Rock and going two days to Appalachian and then two days to Sugar Moutain or just staying in a condo in Sugar. Any comments? Thinking about driving since we are flatlanders. Also, wondering about evenings at Sugar in terms of dining. I like the idea of staying in a place at Sugar with views and either ski in/out or at least being a short drive to resort. My family consists of beginner to intermediate skiers/boarders.

Any information would be most appreciated!

Your dates are iffy for the ski resorts to be open in NC. Most of the resorts close in mid - March. Cataloochee is closing March 7. They have had a lot of snow this year and the bases are deep, but it has been very warm for over 2 weeks. Just check before you go. Appalachian usually has a deeper base, since they are smaller with less area to cover.

Raysweather.com is a good source for the local weather.

This is pushing the ski season, please check to verify the slopes are still operating.
