watkins glen, wine tour: most valuable transport options?

Staying at Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel & looking to do a wine tour on Saturday of Labor Day weekend for about 5 people. Do you have any ideas for transportation to go from winery to winery? Doesn't have to be a limo. Looking to have a driver but keep costs down if possible.

You might want to look into a van. I'm not a big fan of bus tours because people tend to overindulge. I find that unless people are tasting "properly" (spitting instead of swallowing) and most people don't, you're not going to be able to visit as many wineries as you might think. If you plan your route starting at the most distant winery and work your way back to the hotel by the time that you've had enough you'll be close to home.

Hi there Chrissy well if you want to experience some of the best wines in the finger lakes then book your tour with frisky wine tours dot com. They will take you to some of the best wineries as well as some of the best views. The wineries on Keuka Lake are awesome. We had a tour of barbeque at the wineries on sunday and keuka lake and the views where excellent, it is the hidden gem of all the lakes. Its the only tour company that takes you to both lakes in one day. Also visit Watkins Glen State Park the hike was beautiful.

We see Fitzgerald Brothers around in the area a lot- they have a decent sized fleet of vehicles from SUV to Bus.

Check them out. I think they are based in Geneva, but we see one of the short buses in our neighborhood in Ithaca on a permanent basis, so I think they spread out around the area pretty well.

The Harbor Hotel will usually give you a tasting pass for at least one winery- we stayed earlier this year and it was for Glenora.

Depending on how many wineries you want to visit, check out the Seneca Lake wine trail tasting passes- you could save some money on the tasting fees by using one of those. Be sure to check the dates the passes are valid for though. Look on the Seneca Lake Wine trail web page for that info.
