Dengue fever mozzies are only around in summer really as are chickungunya ones. The thing with them is they are active in the daytime and not dawn and dusk like the anopheles and other mozzies.
I noticed a lot of mozzies in March to May and late November to December but not so much now and as the hotels all fog I can't see it being a problem at all for you in August. Most hotels also provide the electic plug in mats which are very effective at keeping them at bay - I have them in all rooms.
I would advocate bringing a DEET repellent - the Jungle formula tropical strength from Boots etc will be fine.
The dengue and chick mozzies are distincitve stripey little things and I haven't seen any dead stripey ones at all recently on my windowsills, but I have in summer - very dead ones I hasten to add.
I don't apply my anti-moz stuff until 4pm now - in summer I apply it in the day time too as all mozzies are more prevelant then.
You really won't have a problem in August.
Any mozzies you are likely to get a bite from are the harmless every day ones!
And as for the hoodies you got us thinking - odd that candy is a hoodie! :)
And no I haven't needed my cardy at all this month and hopefully in August too :)
Have a lovely time in Mauritius :)
