It's sounds funny, but I'd recommend the Public Market too. Ask around until you find Monterey Taco and have a breakfast taco, then go next door to Rich Port Bakery for a Quesito or Chocolate Croissant. Yum! After that go next door to the Import Cheese Shop (can't remember the real name -- it's something like that) and pick up a bottle of their olive oil - they own an orchard in Italy. She will let you taste it. Divine!!!

In addition to the above mentioned sights, I'd just add Highland Park - the magnolias will be in bloom (they're magnificent) and probably some other early stuff, and the new Conservatory is very nice.

Have a great visit!

I 2nd the Memorial Art Gallery. There's a wonderful glass exhibit there now featuring a former RIT professor. Great stuff.

The Susan B. Anthony house is a great place to visit. You'll get an interesting perspective on the women's movement and get to see a great house and neighborhood. It will be a good balance to the George Eastman house!

The Park Ave area is great for poking in shops and a wide selection of restaurants. Dinosaur BBQ will provide a great meal and great people/Harley watching!

Enjoy your visit

Oooo magnolias Carmen?? That sounds nice. I didn't think anything was in bloom yet, but then again, I'm going by my little plants next to my door that have barely sprouted. I think that has more to do with the fact I have a black thumb :D

Hi Kat,

Everybody thinks about Lilacs and Highalnd Park - but IMO there other tree/shrub collections are even better.

The pinetum (the collection of conifers along Pinetum Drive) is really world class.

Also, there are just wonderful collections of blooming shrubs (their hydrangea and viburnum collections are great - they bloom later) and very interesting trees (one of my favorites is a magnificent Carolina Silverbell tree that when it is in bloom it's like standing under a trillion little white umbrellas).

Here is a decent walking tour:

If you happen to be birdwatchers, this is THE big festival weekend for birds of prey at Braddock Bay, up on the lake west of Rochester. It's a major spot for watching bald eagles, hawks, and all other kinds of raptors. There will be talks, releases of banded birds, tours to find owls in the woods and much more.
