Which Erie Canal Boat Cruise

We are looking for the best Erie Canal boat cruise to do with our two children 9 and 11. We will be traveling to Niagara falls with a stop in Rochester to vistit friends. Looking at either the Sam Patch in Pittsford or the Colonial Belle in Fairport. Does anyone have experience with either of these two companies and which has the best experience? Thank you for any advice you can offer.

I see you posted this a while ago and I hope this reply is not too late. Both cruises are lovely.

Sam Patch: A very small boat with little outside seating. You'll go through a lock change which is always fun. It leaves from Pittsford - there are lots of fantastic places (family friendly) to eat as well as ice cream places, you can feed the ducks and you are easy walking distance to the village of Pittsford where there are more eateries, fun shops and a great library.

Colonial Belle: A much larger boat. The entire upper deck is outdoors but there is plenty of indoor seating on the lower deck in case of poor weather. Fairport also has great eateries and ice cream. If you get lucky, you can watch the lift bridge go up when a boat passes. You are not allowed to feed the ducks in Fairport.
