One more... Ikies Carpenters suite? |
|
I just checked Ikies website again ... and they suddenly have rooms in the carpenter's suite for the first few nights of our honeymoon... So I guess we could rearrange the islands and do Santorini first... So my question is - Is ikies great enough to go to Santorini first for it (rather than saving the best for last - with maybe Mystique - although it doesn't seem like they have private jacuzzi's outside)?? And is the carpenter's suite really Private? The terrace particularly?? - Is there someone directly next to you .. and above you looking down on your terrace... (phillyrx - I saw your post on this but just wanted to clarify before I emailed Ikies) My preference would have been the winemakers? thanks again - much appreciated! |

I don't know specifically what the layout of Ikies is, but the question comes to mind: just what do you anticipate needing such a high degree of privacy for anyway? Realistically, if you think you are going to find a place to stay in a complex of rooms/suites/houses where you are completely isolated from the rest of the rooms by barriers that block you from view you are not going to find them in an environment where everything is built on a steep slope/cliff where open visibility is a prime concern. No barrier that blocks the view of another guest would ever be built, I can guarantee you that. So I'm suggesting that you concern yourselves more with how you're going to be spending your time away from your balcony and prepare to "see and be seen."

Hi brotherlee... Just to clarify - my high degree of privacy .. I've just had bad experiences at hotels where the terraces are linked together - and there are kids running around and screaming at all hours ... and throwing toys over to your side .. then coming over to get it... etc... So being that it is our honeymoon - I just want to make sure I'm left alone... thats all... and the privare jaccuzzi - I just want to be able to sip champagne in my own jacuzzi at sunset....

Ikies website states that they do not allow children under 13 years of age at all. It certainly does not seem like the kind of place where there would be noisy children running about, and the reviews on TA are all glowing. We're staying for our honeymoon there end of May/early June, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is! We wanted the Winemaker, too, but as it is booked we are contenting ourselves with the Boatman. Best wishes--

hi margie, i think its a reasonable concern, as i had the same myself. if you would like ot see the layout of ikies, i can send it to you if you give me your email address. personally, i think that the carpenter's house has more privacy than the winemakers. the winemakers is located on a lower area than most of the other houses. also it seems that people can easily see onto the winemaker's terrace. however, with that said, the balcony of the winemaker is not attached to anyone elses. so yes, it is yours alone (and house staff), and yes it's private, but at the same time others can overlook you. the carpenter's house is located on the south end of the property, as it is the last house of the collection. it is attached to the artesian and anitiquarian's terrace. however, this connection is for the occupants of the carpenter's house to walk on the other two properties in order to exit from another way. (they have their own private exit for the house of the carpenter). the terrace is not for the occupants of the artesian and antiquarian to walk on. and as the previous post mentioned.. there are no kids under the age of 13 allowed. if you're looking for the most private terraces, i personally think that the house of the captain and that of the collectors are the most private. since i could not afford the collector's house, i was debating b/w the winemakers, carpenters, and captains. the captain's house is located above a majority of the other houses, and has its own private terrace and hot tub. i believe that only the house of the boatman and collecter are higher, but don't quote me on that. i eliminated the winemaker's b/c i didn't like the fact that people can basically look down on your terrace whenever. i went with the carpenter over the captains, b/c of the interior. i think the house of the carpenter has more to offer than the captains, but that's just my humble opinion. after saying all of that, i think i'd have to agree with the others... you're going to have a great time wherever you stay in ikies. i think the reviews indicate that.... good luck, and if you have anymore questions please let me know.

I do believe the Ikies should make your their prime rep, Philly:)

hi litsa, how've you been? it's been a long time. i'm hoping w/in the next couple of days to have my itinerary finalized... i'm still waitiing on mykonos grace =) i'm not sure if i should take the ikies rep comment as a compliment or not =P its funny how i know so much about them. i had all the same questions as the others and when i contacted them directly, they provided me w/ loads of info. i guess i'm just trying to help out the others interested in ikies as well. i must say though... the customer service there is amazing - the best i've ever experienced in my life! oh yeah, i'll be visiting your neck of the woods (ny) in early feb (visiting friends and brother)...
