My daughter is thinking of getting married in Jan/feb 2014. She would like to get married in Zanzibar but is a little unsure about the humidity as her husband to be feels very uncomfortable if there is high humidity. Has anyone been out there in February and if so is the humidity too high for comfort? Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I have- it is pretty hot and humid. I found Stone Town particularly oppressive, but the beach areas better as you get a bit of a sea breeze.
I wouldn't want to be trussed up for a wedding in it- if you do go ahead, choose the time of day and the outfits carefully.

So kind of you to respond at such speed. My daughter is thinking of a beach area, I dont think it is in Stone Town. You are right about the outfits, strappy dresses I guess and casual for the men, hopefully not shorts. Any idea of what places in Zanzibar would be cooler?

Just want to chime in that we were there at the end of February last year and even on the beach I was absolutely roasting.

It is their summer, and the middle of their summer. So it will always be hot and humid at that time of the year, no cool spots (unless you are inside in an air conditioned room).
Simply too hot - daytime temps can reach into low 100s, humidity can be in the 80% range.
If planning to have ceremony and reception on beach, with bride in strapless loose fiting slip-like dress and groom in slacks with simple short-sleeve shirt... think of the rest of wedding party and if any guests, sitting under the brutal Equatorial Sun. Maybe the hotel/resort can do this in a 'garden' area, but though no sun, the heat/humidity will still be there.
Maybe consider Aug or Sep, as weddings do take place on Zanzibar, but can't say which months are selected and/if how comfortable participants are.
I agree with the others. We just got back from Zanzibar and it was very hot and humid! (I believe it will be equally hot in February). It was one of the hottest places we have ever been!
I would not want to be dressed up for a wedding in that sort of temperature!
It is really hot and humid in Jan/Feb it is our hottest time of year and can be really uncomfortable especially if you not used to such heat. This time of year is the most uncomfortable time for me anyway.
Many thanks for your input. From all the replies I have received it is clearly evident that Zanzibar is not the place to go to in Jan/Feb. I will inform my daughter of your views and may be wewill have to look for another venue i.e. Thailand. Many thanks again.

Our visit found by far the worst heat/humidity... down thru to our underwear. Even staying in 5* a/c hotels, cloths didn't dry overnight. Better check weather in Jan/Feb, but can't believe if any beach area would be better regardless time of year.
Hawaii or the Caribbean likely to be better.
