Female traveling solo to Zanzibar

I'm a female traveling alone to Zanzibar - going for a week in late July between a Safari and another group trip.

Aside from the usual, smart precautions of things like "don't walk alone at night/early morning", does anyone have any other any other safety recommendations?

I'd also love hotel recommendations in Stone Town and/or beaches. Thanks!

Out of that,

-Ask permission before taking pictures of people or private House

-Don`t accept tours or transport from unlicensed"beach boys'

-Although Alcohol is freely available, drunken behaviour is considered offensive

-Also remember and respect that Zanzibar is a Muslim Society.Don`t walk around town or other villages dressed in bikini, mini skirts or similar clothing.Women Should cover their shoulders and were trousers or skirts that reach below the knee.Bikinis and swimwear are acceptable on tourists beaches.

Hotels recommendation is depending on your budget and person preferences

Because there are so many options to Suite all budget.

For a hotel recommendation, I really enjoyed Stone Town Cafe B&B in Stone Town. There are lots of reviews about it here on TA.

The advice so far is all very good. Also be a little wary of walking along any deserted beaches at any time of day because muggings have been known to happen. It's not common and there's no need to be fearful, but you do need to be aware of your surroundings.

For a place to stay in Stone Town, I like Mtoni Marine Hotel. It's not overly expensive but it's clean; it's casual, it has a nice pool and a beach (though it's frankly not the whitest sand or the prettiest beach), and it has a friendly, safe, inexpensive restaurant/bar (plus an expensive one on the beach) that is frequented by locals and tourists alike. Plus it's a very short distance from the center of town (about 10 minutes' walk) and they can arrange inexpensive taxis for you if you want to head into the center.
