We had also rented cars from Sabry Juma, at Zanzibar Car Hire Ltd for two times last August. The first time we had a good Toyota RAV 4WD (12 years old). Mr. Sabry brought the car directly to our hotel and explained everything. He also promised us to get the car at 6 a.m. at the port where we had to leave and when we arrived there, one of his staff was there to get the car.

The other time we arrived at Zanzibar airport and Mr. Sabry brought the car (Suzuki Escudo) directly there. Everything worked very good, though we can also recommend to rent a car there.

Thank you all. Not interested in self-drive because too hard too see things and drive safely IMO. Plus want driver to be able to suggest places to go to.

We, a group of six Chinese, spent 3 day of our vacation at Zanzibar 1st to 3rd Oct 2011. It is purely by coincidence and great luck that we could have the company of Mr. Sabry Juma, a truly professional guide as well as a kind-hearted gentleman. He has made our short stay at the island a perfect one.

As soon as we walked out of the airport, he is there for us with a very nice 8-seat van offered at one of the lowest prices in Zanzibar.. In the next 60 hours, he continued such punctuality. At least 10 mins before every excursion, he is there waiting for us. He has managed to arrange spice tour, dolphin tour, snorkeling near Bawe Island, a visit to the Prison Island to see the big tortoises as well as a short walk in the heart of Stone Town in such a short stay. All this are charged with only 90 dollar for each of us (transportation, drivers and guiding fees all inclusive) and are provided with good quality and service. It seemed that Sabry knows every one and every corner of the island. Laughter, jokes, stories accompanied us all the times.

Sabry is truly considerate. When we had no enough local currency, he was always willing to pay for us first and later got dollars back at a rate favorable for us. He even bought us mineral water for free and gave tip from his own pocket to some locals so that we can take photos of them. On Oct 3rd, we were so indulged in our snorkeling that we came back to shore 1 hour late than schedule and have only time for lunch before getting our luggage from hotel and then departing for airport. Sabry brought us to a seafood lunch at Mtoni Marine Restaurant, which turned out to be a truly unforgettable one and worth its high marks on Lonely Planet. While we were enjoyed the food, he sacrificed his own lunch to get our luggage from Tembo Hotel so as to buy some time for our 1 hour-walk in Old Town.

We also would like to mention his truly professionalism. We feel sorry to know about his tragic suffering of losing his wife in the ferry accident last month. When we know that he continued his service to his guests despite the bad news that day, we feel nothing but great respect for him.

There are still a lot about his good character yet to be mentioned here. We are really looking forward to meet him soon next time.

The car was running good and the price was very reasonable and competitive. He always answered to our email very quickly and explained everything.

We also used the Zanzibar Car Hire service and rented Suzuki Escudo for a few days in October this year and we can fully confirm the impeccable opinion of the company and Mr Sabry himself. It was a real pleasure to co-operate with him. Punctuality, clear information, good prices, quick arrangement of the international driving permit via e-mail, no technical problems with the car, easy and quick communication, simple contract and procedures.

We just got back from Zanzibar where we rented a Suzuki Escudo from Sabry for 5 days. Sabry was super-reliable and helpful: He came to our hotel to sign the contract and also braught the car there. And even though we picked up the car in the heart of Stone Town we were able to drop it off at the airport - very convenient.

We stayed in Bwejuu on the east coast for most of the time and having a rental car there is almost essential - as it is so remote and you pay tons of money for being picked up for snorkel tours or other trips.

Sabry also took us on a wonderful spice tour where we learned so much!

He was always on time, relaxed and had a good humor.

I can definitely recommend his service!
