Birding on Sal

Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of birds on Sal! Right now, because of the great rains that we had in September we have a lot of waders plus ospreys, hoopoe larks, red billed tropic birds and more. Best of all we have breeding Kentish plovers. We have just started a census of the plovers and have been lucky enough to find many nests, see lots of chicks and witness very interesting behaviour. If you are coming to Sal and are a keen birder there is a possibility of joining one of our surveys. It's a unique opportunity to see these birds which no longer breed in and are rarely seen in the UK. For more information please send a PM or email info@turtlesos.org.
