The Verve in Long Island City - good idea?

We were given a really helpful tip when booking our accommodation in New York. It seems that staying just out in Long Island City is cheaper and a very short commute. Seems The Verve is a stones throw away from what is a very short subway ride to Manhattan.

Too good to be true or have we hit on a winner?

Ratings look good. We are just looking for somewhere comfortable to sleep and shower with an average budget of around £160 per night.

It's better to post this question on the New York City board, which gets many more readers. Long Island City is a part of NYC. You should also include the dates of your travel since prices can vary a lot.
