President's Week

We are looking for a place to stay 2/18 to 2/21: 4 adults, 5 kids. Kids will ski Whiteface. Only one adult skis. We don't want to break the bank. Those of us who don't ski would like to be close to Lake Placid, to stroll and shop. Any suggestions?

For a big group like yours try one of many condos available. Do not expect anything inexpensive if you want to be within a walking distance to the village. Book your reservations asap. For that weekend expect prices of accommodations to be higher. It is a wonderfully busy weekend in Lake Placid and Whiteface. Usually we have some kind of competition going on which is interesting to watch. You did not say what age are the kids but check out Kids Campus at Whiteface. You may opt to sign up for a ski lesson for beginners. Some great skiing instructors can show you an excitement of downhill skiing. Or you can go for snowboarding. Kids love snowboarding and Whiteface has good facilities. Find out details about a free shuttle from Lake Placid to Whiteface. No need to drive your car.

There is much more to do in the village and area than to stroll and shop.

Correction to this statement <You may opt to sign up for a ski lesson for beginners.>

I meant <adult non-skiers may also opt to sign up for a ski lesson for beginners.>

Also, check out:

for accommodations in Wilmington, NY--that's where Whiteface is--there are lots of vacation rental homes, and reasonably-priced motels, too. It's about 12 miles from Lake Placid.
